JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of taxa.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Deliver high standards of animal welfare for all the animals within the collection.

Manage all day-to-day tasks, health monitoring, animal husbandry and diet preparation. Undertake relevant observations of animal behaviour to ensure their health and welfare. Stock control of animal feed and other consumables.

Ensure all working areas and tools are kept clean, safe & tidy.

Liaise with the vet as necessary regarding any animal health issues and follow any instructions relating to medication and care. Including administering any medication. Maintaining all documentation relating to welfare standards.

Monitor diets against the condition of animals and life stages.

Responsible for all daily record keeping and preparing all relevant documentation relating to animal welfare and husbandry.

Identifying potential routine/behaviour problems as and when they occur and implement solutions.

Ensuring the safety of our visitors, staff and animals is of key importance as is ensuring that health & safety protocols are always followed.

Supporting positive visitor experiences by good customer service and professional visitor engagement.

Delivering Animal Encounters and Meet the Keeper Sessions as required.


WORKING HOURS

37.5 hours per week - 9am till 5pm


JOB TYPE

Full time


THE CANDIDATE WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK ON:

The successful candidate must be confident delivering excellent levels of animal care and husbandry for all the animals within the collection. They must be self-motivated with the ability to prioritise tasks. They must be capable of working alone, whilst also being comfortable working as a team. It is essential the candidate has an interest in, and experience, working with a wide variety of taxa.

Essential requirements

Minimum of two years’ experience caring for animals in a similar setting.

Minimum of degree level animal care related qualification.

Demonstrable experience of providing species appropriate environments and enrichment Physically fit able to carry out physical tasks across the site

Excellent observational skills

A current full driving licence and own transport (Becky Falls in not on a public transport route)
