JOB DESCRIPTION

Blackpool Zoo is looking for an Experienced Animal Keeper to join our team and cover maternity leave for a period 9 – 12 months, the successful candidate will join our existing team of keepers assisting in the daily care and husbandry needs of our animals. The zoo houses a wide range of species (please see our website http://www.blackpoolzoo.org.uk for more details) and the successful candidate will hopefully have experience caring for a variety of exotic mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily care and management of a specific section of the zoo, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animal health. Develop and implement enrichment programs to promote natural behaviours and enhance animal well-being. Maintain accurate records of animal care, health, and behaviour. Engage with the public through educational talks, demonstrations, and interactive experiences.

You should possess the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) or an equivalent qualification A minimum of 3 years paid keeping experience is essential whilst any category 1 species experience would be desirable. You will need to be hard working, physically fit, enthusiastic, and reliable.
