Tiergarten Heidelberg gGmbH, with around 500,000 visitors, is a continuously developing educational, species and nature conservation organisation. The other main tasks of the non profit organisation include recreation and research.


JOB DESCRIPTION

A valuable animal population of gorillas, chimpanzees, hulmans, rhesus monkeys, various marmosets, lemurs and the rare and highly endangered Roloway's monkeys and crowned sifakas are the responsibility of the primate section. Your tasks: - Carrying out all animal care work that arises - Handling feed and working materials competently and economically - Assisting with the transport of animals, veterinary treatments - Carrying out environmental and behavioural enrichment - Training for medical and animal husbandry purposes - animal presentations and visitor information Your profile - completed training and/or experience as a zoo animal keeper - knowledge and possibly already professional experience in the animal care sector - strong ability to co-operate and work in a team - above-average commitment - interest in and possibly already experience in animal enrichment and training - personal responsibility - willingness to work weekends and public holidays The well-being of the animals is a high priority for us. We are convinced of the importance of environmental enrichment for the physical and mental health of our animals, which is why our enrichment programme is constantly being revised and meets the highest standards. The use of targeted training should simplify the daily handling of the animals and have a positive influence on the relationship between zookeeper and zoo animal.
