Flamingo Land is a popular theme park and zoo in North Yorkshire, and the zoo is a member of BIAZA, EAZA and WAZA.


Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to work across all areas of the zoo. For this role paid experience is preferred but not essential. The successful candidate will receive any training needed to carry out the role. All of our zookeepers are encouraged to participate in a range of activities which include research and environmental enrichment which helps staff improve and update their skills.

The successful candidate should possess a relevant qualification in a biological or conservation subject and at minimum proven work experience in the animal care industry. A drivers licence is preferred.

The successful candidate will be expected to be very personable as there is a requirement to communicate well with our guests, including delivering public talks and general good customer service.

The successful candidate should also be enthusiastic, a good team player and be able to use the correct chain of command whilst doing so.

The successful candidate will be expected to work five days out of seven and this may include weekends and bank holidays in order to provide care for our animals on a rota basis. Working hours vary during the year between summer and winter.

The salary for this position is £26,525, with an annual holiday entitlement of 30 days.
